Question:
Who supports Passport to Safety?
Answer:
Paul Kells: Paul’s son Sean was killed on the third day of his part-time job at the age of 19. It wasn't an accident; it was preventable. Since that tragic day, Sean's father Paul Kells has made it his goal to help prevent any other family from experiencing the loss and pain that he and his family have experienced. Paul is the founder of the Safe Communities Foundation and the founder of the Passport to Safety Program. Candace Carnahan: Candace was in the third summer of employment at a paper mill while attending university. One day she took a short cut through the mill, as she and hundreds of others (including supervisors and managers) had done every day. While stepping across a conveyor belt on the floor her foot landed in exactly the wrong place at the wrong time. She was pulled into the machine and the outcome was the amputation of her leg below the knee. Candace is working as a spokesperson for the Passport to Safety program across Canada. You can read Candace’s full story on the website at www.passportosafety.com. Many organizations have given their support of the program, through financial donations and in kind assistance.
