Passport to Safety is FREE for Nova Scotia High School Students and Teachers

High school marks the time when students are starting their first job or soon to be looking for one. This is also an opportunity to instill within them the knowledge of their basic rights and responsibilities in the workplace and influence the value placed on workplace safety.

In 2005 over 4700 young Nova Scotians reported an injury at work. Since 1999 several have died as a result of a workplace injury. Every opportunity needs to be taken to present youth with an awareness of the importance of workplace safety. The WCBNS is working to do what it can to help prepare incoming and future workers with the knowledge needed to keep safe and free from injury on the job. For this reason, we have committed funding for Nova Scotia students and teachers to access Passport To Safety free of charge.

By means of a national health and safety test via Passport to Safety, we can help young workers to ask the right questions of their employer and take the proper safety precautions and, in so doing work to prevent workplace injuries to themselves and others. This is an amazing start for a whole new generation of safer, smarter workers in Nova Scotia.

Passport to Safety is also a natural link with many existing programs and high school curriculum.

The time needed by teachers to acquire Passport to Safety accounts for students is minimal (and FREE). Help reduce the occurrence and related suffering of workplace accidents and inform future, new and young workers of the fundamentals of workplace health and safety by ordering Passport to Safety for your students.
