Will my Passport Ever Expire?
Answer:: You have purchased a lifetime membership to Passport to Safety and will not be asked to purchase another card.
Why does my certificate look different?
Answer:: For ease of use, the newly designed transcript and certificate are now all one document.
What happens if I fail the test?
Answer:: Throughout the Passport test there is material you can read to help you pass the test. If you get a question wrong you will be given some information about the related safety topic and new questions until you get them right!
What happens after I join?
Answer:: After you purchase your membership you will be able to complete the Passport to Safety test. It asks you a series of questions about safety on the job. Once you have passed the test, it will be added to your printable Passport to Safety transcript as your first achievement!
How much does it cost to join Passport to Safety?
Answer:: Access to Passport to Safety is $9.00 plus $1.50 shipping and handling (for your wallet card) and applicable taxes. This price includes a lifetime membership, access to all Passport to Safety resources, the Passport to Safety test and a Passport to Safety wallet card.
What happens after I pass the test?
Answer:: Your safety transcript will note your accomplishment – successfully completing the Passport to Safety program. You will then be able to add other safety training you have taken on your personal on-line Passport to Safety record that will then appear on your printed transcript. You can print off the Passport transcript to attach to your resume when you’re applying for jobs.
Do I need to have special training before I take the test?
Answer:: We recommend you have received basic health and safety education before trying the test. If you choose to try the test without a prior training program and find it challenging the test will help you along with learning tips for each question you answer incorrectly.
What courses are eligible for my Passport to Safety Transcript?
Answer:: All safety-related training is important training and all are eligible for the Passport to Safety transcript.
What is Passport to Safety?
Answer:: Passport to Safety is a national safety awareness test and transcript. It tests your knowledge on health and safety issues in the workplace and allows you to track your health and safety training on an on-line, printable transcript.
What information does the Passport to Safety challenge cover?
Answer:: The Passport to Safety challenge is made up of six sections with ten questions each. These sections are; Supervisor and Employer Responsibilities, Worker Rights and Responsibilities, WHMIS, The Basics:, Common Workplace Hazards, Controlling Workplace Hazards, and Health and Safety in the Workplace
Who do I contact if I have technical problems?
Answer:: If you have any technical problems while on the Passport to Safety web site please send an email to technicalsupport@passporttosafety.com.
Why should I get a Passport?
Answer:: 1. To give you an edge over the competition when you are applying for a job 2. To show employers that you know safety on the job is necessary 3. To help you learn about being safe on the job (which could save your life!) and to access training programs applicable to your needs
How do I purchase a Passport to Safety wallet card?
Answer:: If you don’t have a card with a password and pin number, click on “Sign Up Now!” on the first page of the Passport to Safety web site.
Does this replace the need for my employer to provide job specific training?
Answer:: No! Your employer is legally responsible for providing you with job specific training. Passport to Safety ensures you know the basics so you're prepared to say no to unsafe work, to recognize hazards and ensure your employer provides you with all the training you need.
Who supports Passport to Safety?
Answer:: Paul Kells: Paul’s son Sean was killed on the third day of his part-time job at the age of 19. It wasn't an accident; it was preventable. Since that tragic day, Sean's father Paul Kells has made it his goal to help prevent any other family from experiencing the loss and pain that he and his family have experienced. Paul is the founder of the Safe Communities Foundation and the founder of the Passport to Safety Program. Candace Carnahan: Candace was in the third summer of employment at a paper mill while attending university. One day she took a short cut through the mill, as she and hundreds of others (including supervisors and managers) had done every day. While stepping across a conveyor belt on the floor her foot landed in exactly the wrong place at the wrong time. She was pulled into the machine and the outcome was the amputation of her leg below the knee. Candace is working as a spokesperson for the Passport to Safety program across Canada. You can read Candace’s full story on the website at www.passportosafety.com. Many organizations have given their support of the program, through financial donations and in kind assistance.
What if I start the test and can’t finish it right away?
Answer:: The test will save everything up to the last completed section for you to finish at a later date.
What if I lose my Passport to Safety wallet card?
Answer:: If you lose your Passport to Safety card, please send an email to info@passporttosafety.com for a replacement. There will be a replacement charge but you can still use your login information even without your card.

Why does Passport to Safety ask for personal information?
Answer:: When you register for a Passport to Safety membership or sign up as a Passport to Safety Employer, Passport to Safety requires certain personal information. This information is used to register your name on your Passport to Safety transcript, process your order, mail you materials you may order or your membership cards, if applicable.
Some anonymous questions are used to conduct research to help Passport to Safety continuously improve its outreach to Canadians and make it a better program.
